Erin Marshall

Erin Marshall is a personal injury attorney with Spence Law Firm NM, LLC, which provides representation, litigation services, and co-counsel for complex and catastrophic injury cases. Erin’s background in public policy gives her the experience, skills, and knowledge of law to effectively represent clients. Erin brings passion for justice born from drafting legislation including the 2002 establishment of the second state stroke program in the nation to the 2017 creation of licensure for lactation professionals to ensure access for new moms. Most recently, Erin drafted legislation for the Wild Friends program to help New Mexico grade school students create a car license plate that funds pollinator-friendly plants on state lands along highways.

Transitioning from creating law to practicing law has been rewarding and exciting for Erin. She is open and accessible to clients, forging partnerships to achieve success, and championing client needs to win for a good cause. Erin’s legal work builds on her years of legislative work combined with her hospital compliance work. She brings clinical perspective to her clients experiencing issues with acute stroke, cardiovascular, diabetes, end of life, and maternal and infant care or birthing. Erin is exploring outrageous maternal mortality rates in the U.S. and policy efforts to address it; she presented her article on the topic at the national Childbirth and the Law Conference in 2021.

Erin Marshall is currently working on issues of catastrophic injuries on New Mexico highways with the goals of improving driver and roadway safety to reduce the high incidence of accidents and injuries in our state. New Mexico roadways are suffering from lack of maintenance and our families, children, and property suffer for it.

Erin Marshall spent twenty years in public policy and hospital compliance, and another seven in hospitality and restaurant service, mastering listening, analyzing, and creating solutions to complex problems. Erin also has experience as a business and nonprofit executive. She started a consulting firm to address health equity issues in New Mexico and beyond to assist innovators with funding to make their communities healthier, economically secure, and safer. Erin is committed to her clients and community.

Erin was a volunteer backcountry ranger in Denali, Alaska, where she met her husband. When not in south Albuquerque, she can be found spending time at her place in Catron County, New Mexico stargazing or shooting her bow, and is also known to enjoy spending time hiking with her husband and boys and helping with dog rescue.
