Heather Schmillen Legal Assistant
As the welcoming face of The Spence Law Firm, Heather brings a unique blend of professionalism, compassion, and lived experience to her role as front desk legal assistant. For over a year, she has provided vital support to attorneys and clients alike—managing communications, organizing legal documents, and helping ensure the firm runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis.
Before joining the team, Heather developed a diverse professional background with experience in title and escrow, the mortgage industry, and family law. In 2016, she graduated from the Climb Wyoming program where she earned her CNA certification and worked at St. John's Medical Center’s living center. As a young single mother, her participation in Climb—a statewide program designed to empower single mothers with career training and stable employment—reflects her deep dedication to building a better life for herself and her daughter.
Her commitment to service extends beyond the workplace. She participated in a mission trip to Antigua, Guatemala, helping build bunk beds and playground equipment for a local orphanage. In 2019, she traveled to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, where she connected with rural communities and assisted in supporting another orphanage’s needs across the countryside.
As a proud Jackson native and 2015 graduate of Jackson Hole High School, Heather feels deeply connected to the Teton County community. When she’s not at the office, she’s usually outdoors—camping by the lake, paddle boarding, or making memories with her daughter during Wyoming’s short but beautiful summers.
Passionate about being part of a strong legal team, Heather is driven by a desire to help people receive the justice they and their families deserve.
