John A. Moorhead
After earning his undergraduate degree in English and History from the University of Pittsburgh, John followed his interest in craft brewing to Boulder, Colorado, where he worked with the Brewers Association, a not-for-profit trade organization representing small and independent breweries. There, he developed a strong appreciation and passion for advocating on behalf of smaller businesses, including work connected to fairer legislation for small business owners and consumer protections. That experience helped shape his interest in plaintiff-side litigation and in standing up for individuals and organizations facing more powerful opponents.
After moving to Tetonia, Idaho, John briefly served as Food and Beverage Director at a boutique hotel at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, further refining his appreciation for serving and catering to individuals, before deciding to attend law school.
At the University of Montana, John graduated with honors and received the Dean’s Award for outstanding student leadership in legal studies and in the legal community. He also earned a Master’s in Public Administration, further strengthening his understanding of public institutions, policy, and the role of law in advancing meaningful change. Upon graduating, he received the Outstanding JD/MPA Student Award.
During law school, John served as Managing Editor of the Montana Law Review, worked as a teaching assistant in both legal writing and Property law, and interned at the Spence Law Firm. His academic and legal education experiences reinforced his commitment to advocacy, public service, and plaintiff-focused work.
John’s practical experience includes judicial externships with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana, where he gained insight into federal appellate and trial-level practice.
Outside of work, John likes to spend time with his family and friends, including his and his wife Sarah’s dogs, cat, goats, and chickens. He also enjoys a variety of outdoor recreational activities.
