Teresa W. Morguson

Executive Assistant

Teresa W. Morguson is a graduate of Notre Dame Law School and Indiana University, where she earned undergraduate degrees in sociology and women’s studies. Prior to attending law school, Teresa counseled survivors of domestic violence at the local women’s shelter and served as the director of investigation and witness services in the Domestic Violence Division of the county prosecutor’s office in South Bend, Indiana. After graduation from law school, Teresa was given the opportunity to advance her work with domestic violence survivors and their families. She served as the deputy prosecuting attorney charged with prosecuting domestic violence cases ranging from misdemeanors to felonies. That opportunity enabled Teresa to draft and ultimately assist in passing legislation changing the rules of evidence in Indiana as they pertain to prior relationship histories and prior conviction histories of defendants charged with crimes of domestic violence.

In her private practice, Teresa litigated in criminal defense for both adults and juveniles. She also practiced as a family law attorney and became a certified family law mediator for high-conflict cases that were court-mandated into mediation. Teresa served as legal counsel for the State of Indiana Department of Child Services in St. Joseph County, and as a Judge Pro Tempore in Superior (criminal division), Small Claims (civil), and Probate (civil division) courts in St. Joseph County, Indiana.

While in Indiana, Teresa was appointed to the Governor’s task force on domestic violence, Indiana’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Domestic Violence, The Family Court Advisory Board in St. Joseph County, St. Joseph County YWCA Board of Advisors on Domestic Violence, court-appointed Guardian Ad Litem in high-conflict custody disputes, Board of Director—Elkhart County Women’s Shelter, St. Joseph County Speaker’s Bureau on Domestic Violence, and the ICADV and IPAC speakers’ bureau.

When Teresa was offered the opportunity to assist Robert A. Krause at The Spence Law Firm, she immediately knew it was an offer she couldn’t pass up. She retired her practice in Indiana, made the life-changing decision to load up all her worldly possessions (including her beloved furry companion and best co-pilot ever, Winston) and, three days later, in the dead of winter, she arrived and began calling Wyoming her new home. Says Teresa, “I’ve not experienced a single moment of regret. Working with the fabulous people in this firm who instantly became family and assisting Robert Krause has been nothing but a privilege and one of the most important highlights of my legal career and life.”

Teresa has two married daughters who visit her frequently. In her free time, Teresa enjoys hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, and exploring the wonderful state of Wyoming.
