Werner Transportation Trucker Crashes on Interstate 80: Confidential Settlement
On a snowy day on Interstate 80, winter “white-out” conditions
were making travel extremely dangerous. A Werner Transportation tractor-trailer
was just a few miles behind Jerry Whitesides, traveling slowly on the
snowy roads, but the Werner trucker was gaining ground fast. Unbeknownst
to Jerry, or the other drivers on the road that day, Werner’s purported
professional driver was a student trainee who had never been trained to
drive in snow. The road conditions continued to worsen and Jerry slowed
his truck to a crawl. The Werner trainee, with his trainer asleep in the
back, entered the white out traveling over 50 mph. Unable to stop or control
his vehicle, the Werner truck slammed into Jerry’s vehicle causing
Jerry to suffer severe neck and lower spine injuries. After several surgeries,
and despite the best efforts of his doctors, Jerry was unable to return
to work. We represented Mr. Whitesides against the trucking company responsible
for the trucking accident on interstate-80 (I-80) in Wyoming. The case
settled for a confidential amount.
