Another Tragic and Dangerous Accident on Teton Pass
Aug 18, 2026

On July 7th a fatal multi-vehicle crash occurred on Teton Pass caused by an asphalt-carrying dump truck. The crash caused two fatalities and four serious injuries. The July 7th crash continued intense community and official discussions regarding safety and heavy vehicle restrictions on the pass. The Spence Law Firm is assisting the victims of the July 7th tragedy and actively investigating the collision.
This incident is part of a dangerous and disturbing history affecting our community. On August 17, 2026, for the third time in the last two months, a heavy vehicle lost control while descending the eastern/Wyoming side of Teton Pass. This caused another catastrophic multi-vehicle collision that caused multiple injuries and closed the Pass for hours. Also, on July 17th, a runaway RV towing a cargo trailer lost control and fortunately managed to avoid causing serious injuries and death to other motorists.
Highway 22, connecting Teton County, Wyoming to Teton County, Idaho and with grades approaching 10%, is the busiest road in the State of Wyoming and it is vital to the Jackson Hole economy. Throughout winter, when the Pass is closed to trailers, tractor-trailers who ignore numerous closure signs frequently create dangerous conditions by getting stuck (or worse) on the Pass.
The Spence Law Firm is deeply committed to safety on our highways and interstates, and we will continue to hold any drivers and companies accountable for failing to maintain and operate their vehicles in a safe manner. If you or a loved one have been injured as a result of improper operation of a motor vehicle, please contact the Spence Law Firm at 1-800-967-2117.
