In Memoriam - Charles F. Wooden
Nov 09, 2015
We are saddened to share the news that Charles "Chuck" F. Wooden passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 1, 2015, of natural causes. Chuck was born in Wayne County, Michigan to loving parents, Carol and Charles Wooden, Sr. The family moved to Camp Davis in the Hoback Canyon in 1970. He graduated from Jackson Hole High School in 1980. He attended Casper College and graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in criminal justice in 1985.
Chuck was an immensely important member of our Firm for nearly 30 years. His contributions were invaluable in many ways; he was valued and appreciated, and loved, by seemingly everyone who ever had the good fortune of working with him over the decades. Chuck was instrumental in developing cutting edge protocols for legal investigation and trial preparation. His work contributed to making the cars we drive safer. His efforts saved lives on a national scale. Chuck worked directly with professionals to determine how an accident happened and to prevent it from happening in the future.
Chuck was a valued team member and lead investigator on many historic cases involving unsafe road design, dangerous products, work place accidents, oil field catastrophes, race track mishaps, air disasters, medical malpractice, and civil rights. He counted many former clients as good friends. His work took him across the country and overseas. He made friends wherever he went, making a huge difference in the lives of everyone he touched.
He was a primary member of the National Association of Legal Investigators (NALI), co-owner and co-founder of the National Institute of Legal Investigation and a member of the Inner Circle of Investigators. He was an integral member of these organizations and will be remembered for his generosity, intelligence, and wit.
When not working, Chuck enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and restoring classic cars. His cars brought him much joy, earning recognition and awards in local and regional shows.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Carol and Charles Wooden Sr. Chuck is survived by his brother, Jay Wooden, Aunt and Uncle Dick and Pat Wooden, cousin Don Wooden and wife, Kim, loving dog Axel, and many close friends and colleagues. Chuck was generous with his knowledge, skill and experience both personally and professionally. He will be remembered for his caring presence and quick laugh. He will be greatly missed.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 17 at the Center for the Arts, at 11:00 a.m. Condolences for the family can be sent to The Spence Law Firm, P.O. Box 548, Jackson, Wyoming 83001.
