Interstate 80 Crash Claims Two Lives Following Multi-Vehicle Pileup

On the afternoon of Wednesday, February 18, a major multi-vehicle and semi-truck collision occurred on eastbound Interstate 80, resulting in two fatalities and more than two dozen injuries. Three individuals were airlifted to medical centers in Utah for critical care, and approximately twenty-two others were treated locally at Evanston Regional Hospital for a range of injuries. According to preliminary reports, adverse winter weather conditions, including icy roads, limited visibility, and drivers traveling too fast for the wintry and dangerous conditions, may have contributed to the chain-reaction crash. The Wyoming Highway Patrol is currently investigating the cause and tragic sequence of events. Emergency crews and first responders worked for hours, late into the night, to assist victims, clear debris, and secure the scene. Interstate 80 was temporarily closed in both directions during the emergency response and investigation.
