Spence Law Firm Partner Jason Neville On Crossing the Aisle and Flipping the Script
Jul 02, 2026
On Friday, June 19th, Jason Neville spoke powerfully and emotionally at the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association Convention about his career arc and the epiphany that led him to join The Spence Law Firm. The theme of the 2026 Convention was Champions of the Underdog and Jason has spent years embodying this sentiment. Before joining The Spence Law Firm, Jason worked for almost 20 years in private practice defending insurance companies, corporations and individual civil defendants. His unique prior experiences and perspectives are a tremendous resource for our firm and our clients.
In his presentation, Crossing the Aisle and Flipping the Script, Jason discussed his nearly two decades of experience as a civil defense attorney and the realities of working with and communicating with insurance companies, adjusters and Defendant clients. Jason shed light on the role insurance adjusters play in personal injury cases and provided advice about how to communicate effectively with defense counsel and insurance companies to more than a hundred of his WTLA peers.
Jason poignantly told the audience that one of the best ways to successfully advocate for a client is to work genuinely and collaboratively with both adjusters and defense counsel. To accomplish this, he encouraged the audience to treat defense counsel and insurance representatives with respect; to never forget there are “people on the other side” who are “nearly all decent people trying to do a good job.”
Jason candidly and courageously reflected on his prior experiences and the meaningful connections he now shares with our clients in wrongful death, personal injury, trucking accident, and medical malpractice cases. Reflecting on the privilege it is to advocate for his clients, Jason said, “Remember – without them (defense attorneys and insurance adjusters), there is no us. If everyone did the right thing, we would be deprived of this beautiful role that is championing those that need help the most. What a gift.”
The Spence Law Firm takes tremendous pride in our advocacy skills and in the close relationships we build with our clients. To contact Jason or another member of the Spence team, please contact us.
