The Spence Law Firm Partners Drew and Lutz get record verdict in Madison County, ID
Aug 04, 2026
In November 2022, our client was seated in the rear passenger seat of a vehicle traveling on a roadway with the right-of-way when the defendant suddenly backed out of a parking lot and struck the rear passenger-side door where our client was seated. Although the collision occurred at a relatively low speed and involved a modest impact, it caused permanent non-visible injuries, and our client suffered a mild traumatic brain injury. In the years since, our client has suffered daily headaches and migraines, which have negatively impacted every other aspect of their life.
Noah Drew, assisted by his partner Michael Lutz and associate Jacob Lewis, represented the client in a week-long jury trial.
The jury returned a verdict in favor of our client, awarding $1.7 million in damages. This is the largest known personal injury verdict from Madison County, Idaho.
If you don’t know the county, you may know its main city, Rexburg, Idaho, home of BYU-Idaho. The people of Madison County are strongly rural, agrarian, and conservative. We trusted that the jury’s strong values would support our case, and they did. We are grateful to the jurors for returning a just verdict in favor of our client.
At The Spence Law Firm, we’re proud of the trial team for making this difficult case look easy. However, more than anything else, we were so proud to represent our clients. They are amazing humans, and their determination to overcome their numerous and ongoing challenges is admirable and inspiring.
