Sterling J. Bowers became a trial lawyer to fight for ordinary folks. As a seventh-generation cattle rancher and first-generation college graduate, Sterling carries an underdog mentality.
Sterling graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska, Omaha, in 2019 while actively managing his family's ranch. At the University of Wyoming College of Law, Sterling excelled in oral advocacy, including winning the Davis & Cannon Natural Resources Moot Court Competition and qualifying for the Jeffrey G. Miller, Pace National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition. He was also the Founding President of the Wyoming Sports & Entertainment Law Club and served as a Representative and Ex-Officio member of the ASUW Student Government.
As a third-year law student, Sterling earned the Terry W. Mackey Scholarship for his grit, determination, and promise as a future trial lawyer. He continued using these skills and characteristics by serving as a student attorney in the College's Defender Aid Clinic, where he worked to exonerate wrongfully convicted individuals. At the same time, Sterling served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Kelly H. Rankin, Chief United States Magistrate Judge for the District of Wyoming, and Justice Kari Jo Gray of the Wyoming Supreme Court.
Sterling joined The Spence Law Firm as a summer associate following his second year of law school and has been with the Firm ever since. You'll find Sterling outdoors with loved ones when he isn't working. Tirelessly curious, his passions include working with horses, dogs, and cattle, traveling, roping, golfing, skiing, and practicing jiu-jitsu.
