Twenty Injured After Greyhound Bus Rollover

On December 28, 2021, a Greyhound bus traveling westward on I-70 and headed to Las Vegas left the highway and rolled over. According to central Utah law enforcement officials, the bus came to rest on its side about 100 yards from the edge of the roadway.

The accident resulted in injuries to 20 passengers. A total of 38 people – including the driver – were on board the bus at the time. Those injured were taken to area hospitals and were treated for minor to severe injuries. Utah Highway Patrol Sergeant Cameron Roden reported that all passengers are expected to survive.

Passengers uninjured in the crash came to the side of the road and frantically waved for help, as there was no cell reception in the area. A crash report cited the statements of one woman who stopped to assist. She noted aiding a passenger with a head injury whom she described as "cold, panic-stricken and barefoot." Other serious injuries were also mentioned, including another passenger with debilitating pain in their leg, back, and hips.

It is still not known what caused the bus to leave the roadway and result in these injuries. While a snowstorm had hit parts of Utah Monday night, the road conditions were reportedly clear at the time of the accident. A Greyhound spokesperson, Crystal Booker, declined to comment on the accident, other than to say that the company sends its thoughts and prayers to those impacted.
